Since its inception in 2021, Antardhoni Nepal has executed the following interventions. Our activities span various themes, each contributing to the overarching goal of promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in Nepal. Through advocacy, awareness, capacity building, and community engagement, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities across the country.

Mental Health Support and Awareness

Mental Health Support for Victims of Domestic Violence

We constantly provide counseling, support groups, and referral services for survivors of domestic violence. The goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for survivors to heal, regain their confidence, and rebuild their lives free from violence.

Mental Health Support for Women and Girls in AES

Recognizing the stigma, discrimination, and mental health challenges faced by women and girls in the adult entertainment sector (AES), we initiated a project aimed at promoting their overall well-being and empowerment. This initiative included self-care training, counseling services, and providing resources to improve access to support services. Our efforts focused on creating a non-judgmental space for these individuals to seek help and prioritize their mental health.

Menopausal Mental Health Education and Support

Recognizing the impact of menopause on a woman's mental health, we developed a project to educate and provide support to women navigating this transitional period. Our programs focus on equipping participants with coping strategies, resources, and a better understanding of the mental health challenges that can arise during menopause. Through this initiative, we aim to empower women to prioritize their mental well-being during this phase of life.

Post-partum Mental Health Awareness and Support

In collaboration with Project Srishti of medical students of Nepal Army Institute of Medical Sciences, we launched a project to raise awareness about postpartum mental health and offer counseling services to support new mothers during this crucial transition. Through our efforts, we established a postpartum mental health counseling help desk, where we provided guidance and support to 65 women. Our goal was to address the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise during the postpartum period.

Post-Jajarkot Earthquake Mental Health Support

Following the Jajarkot earthquakes, we initiated a project to offer counseling, group support, and coping mechanisms to aid in the healing process and promote resilience within affected communities. Our team provided one-on-one counseling sessions and facilitated group discussions to address the psychological impact of such traumatic events. Through this project, we aimed to support individuals in their recovery and rebuilding process, while prioritizing their mental health.

Queer Mental Health Sensitization and Support

We trained 30 queer ambassadors across Nepal on mental health sensitization, focusing on addressing mental health issues within the queer community. Our goal was to equip these ambassadors with the skills to create safe spaces, provide counseling and support, and advocate for the mental well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. Additionally, we conducted workshops and education sessions to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding queer mental health.

School Workshops for Children and Teachers

We engaged with local schools to conduct 15 interactive workshops aimed at promoting mental health awareness among children and teachers. These workshops covered essential topics like stress management, emotional well-being, and fostering a positive classroom environment.

Policy and Advocacy

Nationwide Public Hearing Program

Interaction Program with Parliament Members

We led a nationwide public hearing program in collaboration with national media outlets. This platform allowed voices to be heard, stories to be shared, and contributed to a more open conversation about mental health across the country.

We facilitated an interaction program with parliament members to discuss mental health policy and needs. By engaging policymakers, we aimed to drive change and highlight the importance of mental health on a broader scale.

Community Empowerment

Community Mental Health Workshops

Our community mental health workshops are at the core of our grassroots efforts to destigmatize mental health and promote well-being. Through these interactive sessions, we engage directly with diverse communities across Nepal, fostering open dialogues and creating safe spaces for individuals to share their experiences. Our workshops are tailored to address the unique challenges faced by each community, whether it's rural villages, urban neighborhoods, or marginalized groups. By combining expert knowledge with culturally sensitive approaches, we empower participants with practical tools for self-care, stress management, and emotional resilience.

Kishori Sanjal (Adolescent Girl Network) Empowerment

We train girls in the Kishori Sanjal (adolescent girl network) on self-care, career counseling, mental health, and psychosocial well-being. These efforts aimed to build resilience and empower the next generation of girls in rural Nepal.

Community Women Leaders' Training (Collaboration with Tokha Municipality)

Rural Awareness Campaigns

Impact: 40+ campaigns in 6 districts

We conducted a 3-day skill-based training for community women leaders in partnership with Tokha municipality. The training focused on equipping them with tools for promoting mental health, fostering supportive communities, and addressing challenges.

In many rural regions, there is limited access to mental health services, with fewer mental health professionals and facilities available. This lack of resources can lead to underdiagnosis and undertreatment of mental health issues.

By raising awareness about mental health in rural areas, these campaigns help reduce stigma, increase knowledge about available resources, and encourage open conversations about mental well-being.

Aama Samuha (Mothers Group) Empowerment

Impact: 8 groups

Empowered 8 Aama Samuha (Mothers Groups) in rural Nepalese villages through education and skill-building sessions. These efforts focused on enhancing their understanding of mental health, providing tools for supporting their families' well-being, and fostering a supportive community.

Other Projects

Individual Counseling

Impact: 25 persons

We provide one-on-one counseling services. It is a private and safe place to share worries and get help to feel better. People can talk about stress, sadness, relationships, and learn ways to handle things and become stronger emotionally.
